Every website we build starts with research

We do your homework. Properly. Your market, your customers, and, most usefully of all, your competitors.

What the research covers

Before your pages get written, we find out what they need to say. What people in your area actually type into Google when they need what you sell. The questions they ask before they buy. And then the part that raises eyebrows: a proper look at your direct competitors. What they offer. What they charge, where their prices are visible. How they talk about themselves. And, crucially, the gaps: the questions they don’t answer, the services they hide, the things they do badly that you do well.

That last list is where websites win. Your site doesn’t need to shout louder than everyone else’s. It needs to answer, plainly, the things the others leave vague.

Meet the world’s greatest PA

Now, how we do this. We’ve taken on some help: a research assistant powered by the new generation of AI tools, and she is, without exaggeration, the finest PA we’ve ever met. Ask her to read every competitor’s website, every review, every forum grumble and every price list in your corner of the market, and she’ll have it done before elevenses, without complaint, and without missing a page. Around the office we call her Verity.

And here’s the honest bit, because there always is one. Like every brilliant PA, Verity is only as good as her briefing. Point her vaguely and she’ll bring back a vague mountain. Ask her the wrong question and she’ll answer it beautifully. And now and then, like anyone working at that speed, she gets something confidently wrong. So she doesn’t work alone. We set the questions, steer the digging, and check what comes back against reality before any of it is believed. The tool is remarkable. The craft is knowing what to ask it, and what to double-check.

What you get: the report

All of it lands in a plain-English report, and the report is yours to keep.

We keep no mystery about why: it’s the foundation your website’s words are built on, so you deserve to see the foundations. But clients keep telling us the report earns its keep well beyond the website. It’s your market, mapped. Your competitors’ offers and prices, side by side, some for the first time anyone’s laid them out. Businesses have used it to adjust pricing, to spot a service worth adding, and simply to know, rather than guess, what they’re up against.

There’s no extra line on the invoice for it. The research is included with every website and online shop we build, because we can’t write a good website without it, and because handing you the report costs us nothing but keeping secrets.

Why it matters for getting found

One last connection worth making. This research is also why the finished website gets found. Google rewards pages that answer what people are actually searching for, and the only way to write those pages is to know the questions first. Guesswork produces websites that talk about themselves. Research produces websites that answer customers. Verity, bless her, has never guessed at anything in her life.
